Ron’s Story
Set in the small Hawaiian town of Hanapēpē, a young boy, Ron, worries that he isn’t skilled enough to find the perfect gift for his mother’s birthday. However, his thoughtfulness leads him to set out on a journey and his discoveries will serve as a gift to the entire town.
Ron’s story is a catalyst for fostering a sense of community spirit and individual empowerment in kids. It teaches young readers that, just like Ron, they have the innate capacity to be heroes in their own communities.

Inspired by Ron’s journey to become a hero, we aim to share the stores of real-life community-builders: from leaders in sustainable agriculture to literacy on the island.
