Born in Kauai, Ron grew up in bustling old town Hanapepe. Ron’s favorite activities included spearfishing and eating loco-moco.
Our goal is to give other children in Hanapepe the opportunity Ron had to pursue a higher education.
Ron’s memory lives on in this book and the lives of children it touches.
Established in 1987, the Kauai Coffee Estate is the largest coffee plantation in the United States. Coffee is one of Kauai’s major agricultural exports and sources of state revenue.
While coffee was actually discovered in Africa, Ron’s discovery of it in Hanapepe shows that each kid has the power to improve their own community.
